Bring your buckets & spades, for fun in sand.
Wednesday 24 July - Sunday 1 September
Back by popular demand! The Beach is returning to Lichfield Cathedral this summer!
Over the last 2 years we have loved welcoming you, your friends and families to The Beach, and we’re excited to welcome you back this year! There will be sand, decking, deck chairs, children’s activities, refreshments and more for you and the whole family to enjoy.
What's Happening on the Beach
We're inviting everyone to come to the Beach and enjoy the space. Borrow a deck chair* for a while and put your feet up, build sandcastles with the kids, grab a drink and some snacks, and while away the day.
The Beach is free! Pop along whenever you like.
On selected dates you can also enjoy crafts, a magician and his circus, storytelling, trails, summer school & more!
*Deck chairs will be available 10:00-17:00 (subject to availability).
Summer Programme
Sensory Explorers Trail
Available every day during usual opening hours
Pick up a trail from the Visitor Services desk and explore the Cathedral with all of your senses. The trail will be looking to see what happened once the fox gave Jesus his heart. Follow your senses to understand a bit more about Christian worship and explore the Cathedral through your 5 senses!
Footprint Scrapbook
Available every day during usual opening hours
Add your footprint to our scrapbook of visitors. We all leave an imprint, small or large, wherever we go, and on the people we meet. Add your footprint to our scrapbook of visitors to the Cathedral alongside our visiting elephants Staffie and Eternal Life and the Fox from our lightshow. Tell us about a person whose footprints have made a difference to you!
