Our Vision for Mission Print E-mail
As the seat of the Bishop and a centre of worship and mission at the heart of the Diocese of Lichfield, we are called to use this context to live and proclaim the love of God, so that all people may find their fulfilment, with joy, within a community of those who recognise and respond to the creative purpose of God.

We believe that this requires us to:

  • see the world as God sees it
  • affirm that our true humanity is revealed in the life death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
  • work with all those who are being used by God to enliven the world to discover, and recover, the baptismal status of all and to invite and bring them into the Christian family

Our Tasks

And so we commit ourselves to living and sharing the faith by:
  • worshipping God daily and offering prayer for the church and the world
  • building the Cathedral community and nurturing the faithful
  • sharing in the mission of the Church by
    • offering a welcome and hospitality to all who visit us
    • working with the Diocese and the Worldwide Church to promote the Kingdom
    • engaging with the institutions, which shape public and community life
    • encouraging study, reflection and learning
    • providing a forum for the Diocese, and community of the District and Counties, to address contemporary issues
    • promoting the Arts
  • conserving our heritage and using it as a tool for evangelism
  • managing our resources effectively and responsibly
The ministry of the Cathedral is advised by the following groups:
  • The Fabric Advisory Committee
  • The Finance and Investment Advisory Committee
  • The Outreach and Education Advisory Committee
  • The Worship Advisory Committee
