Cut the CarbonThe longest ever protest march in UK history will pause at Lichfield Cathedral this week. The 'Cut the Carbon' March (which started in Bangor, N Ireland on 14 July and will eventually end at the London Stock Exchange on 2 October), will last 80 days and cover 1000 miles.

It will arrive at the Cathedral on Friday, 24 August at 3.30pm, en route to Birmingham for a big rally on Bank Holiday Monday. The Cut the Carbon march aims to raise awareness all over the UK of the fact that climate change is not just a forecast. It is happening now and millions of poor people are suffering. The march calls on the government to commit to cutting the UK's emissions by at least 80% by 2050.
