Who are the Patrons?

Posted on Thursday, 09 December 2010 12:12

Over the past 1300 years, countless people have played their part in helping to preserve and enhance Lichfield Cathedral and its many beautiful treasures, and faithfully to pass them on to the next generation.

The running and upkeep costs of the Cathedral currently stand at over £26,700 a week. That is £5.30 for every minute that the Cathedral is open. We receive no money directly from the government to help with these costs – so the Cathedral relies on other income sources. There is so much that needs to be done, which is why the Patrons of Lichfield Cathedral were formed in 2002.

Future events for the Patrons include:

28 June - Visit to Blithfield Hall courtesy of Charles and Cosy Bagot-Jewitt

28 September - 9th Annual Patrons Dinner held in the Nave of the Cathedral.  All Welcome.  Further details and ticket prices to follow.

For more details please contact the Patrons below.

Benefits

The benefits of becoming a Patron include:

  • An invitation to our annual Patrons’ dinner. For more information please click here.
  • An invitation to attend our summer garden parties, held annually at large private country houses not otherwise open to the public.
  • Free membership of the Friends of Lichfield Cathedral
  • An invitation to Advent carol services and a special reception for Patrons in the Deanery

You can make a real difference

To become a Patron of Lichfield Cathedral costs £300 per year for a single membership, or £500 per year for couples.

Your contribution will help us to plan and budget for future maintenance. It will support the essential work of preserving the beauty, traditions and fabric of our magnificent building and everything it stands for. It will help to secure its treasures and its architectural heritage.

You will also be able to share the pleasure and the fellowship of coming together with other like-minded people in the Cathedral community. Our Patrons are a special part of Cathedral life and enjoy a tailor-made social and cultural programme throughout the year.  For more information, please see the Patrons' Brochure.
